It was a really frosty morning. Temp was 10ยบ. The sky was clear, and I thought while it was nice we should get out and take some pictures. These first few shots are of the window in the garage door.
I like frost and all the shapes it forms.
We drove by the ski resort and you can see the frost on the tops of the trees.
There is a large field across the road from our home, and a major snowmobile route. This is the grooming machine doing it's thing. The trails were just recently opened. They are closed till the end of hunting season in New York state.
It was such a beautiful day, and I took lots of pictures. I even got out for a walk on 3 of our 4 trails.
I'll save the rest of the images when the weather turns on us again and I can't get out. Sunday we are supposed to get another winter blast. The wind changed last Friday, and we didn't get the storm that was predicted for this area. We'll see about this one.
Have a wonderful day, and if you're in it's path take care!

A little of this and a little of that.

It was not a very nice day yesterday! The weather folks predicted a mixed bag of all the worse winter conditions. They even cancelled school. It began around 8AM with heavy snow, and then turned to freezing rain, and for a while it was pouring! After that more snow, and then more drizzle. We thought we'd get up to 12" of the white stuff, but only 4" mounted up. Last evening there was a heavy icy crust on everything, and the temperatures were in the teens. Brrrr.
More snow coming for the week-end.
This Cardinal appeared on my feeder in the morning. I'm wondering if he might have met up with Mr. Cooper's hawk, and somehow escaped? That hawk always goes for the neck. I watched him for a while, and he was eating and acting OK, and was able to fly away.
Lots of heavy snow for a while.

Then freezing rain.
One of my orchids that is in bloom. I have a few more, and I'll post them later.
I won this lighted snowman at the fireman's annual banquet about a month ago. It is handmade by one of the member's Mom.

SkyWatch Friday

We went to our granddaughters Christmas program at school this afternoon, and when we came out, the sky was very interesting.
We're supposed to get a nasty storm sometime tonight, but this afternoon the sun was shining in all it's glory.
Thanks to all responsible for hosting SkyWatch Friday. Click on http://skyley.blogspot.com/ to see more great sky pictures.
Once again it was a miserable day. First early this morning we had freezing rain, then about 1" of snow. The rest of the day was dull, dark, windy and ugly!
Guess I'll have to post some more of my decorations. This is one of a pair of pillows on my couch.
Another pillow.
And another.
In the front of the living room we have a bay window, and above the window is a red berry swag with clear lights. I leave these lights up all year. I love these little lights. I also have friendship lights in the windows that I leave up all year too.
This arrangement is in my garden window in the kitchen.
Years ago Gary made me a black Walnut shelf for above the stove. These Santa's are salt and pepper shakers, and I've had them since 1967. I won them at a Christmas party.

Watery Wednesday

This is a favorite from last summer, and since it is cold, dark, and miserable here lets enjoy something from a more pleasant day. . We stopped for lunch one afternoon while out shopping, and while eating in the van we spied this Mallard in a little pond near the parking lot. He was very obliging in letting me take lots of photos.

Ruby Tuesday

Here it is Ruby Tuesday again.
I have a small collection of Santa's. This one is a signed Father Christmas Santa with Fruit. I have had him over 20 years, and he is my favorite and just about the first one I put out each Christmas. This Santa was purchased at the Yankee Peddler Craft Festival in Canal Fulton, Ohio. I've had him about 10 years, and he is all hand made, and over 2 ft. tall.
Have a wonderful Tuesday all, and thanks to Mary/the teach for being the host.

As promised here are a few pictures of the birds. I just can't get enough of the Mourning Doves , sorry.
Anyway it was a miserable Sunday. It rained almost all day, although it was in the upper 30's. Tomorrow more rain changing to snow.
This Starling stopped by for a bite to eat. Open wide..
This Dove is standing on one leg to show us what good balance he has.
Some preening feels good while sitting in the sunshine.
A little itch on the back.
And who says a Dove can't swivel it's head like an Owl!
After all that grooming, how about a nap...
A good shot to show the green fluorescent color in his wings.
Oh, Oh, the Dove is awake. Always on the look-out for that Cooper's Hawk! Some of his buddies met their demise by not staying alert!
The Titmice were here too for a while.
Love those BIG eyes.
Have a great Monday all. We're going to do a bit of Christmas shopping this morning. I'm almost done!
Right now it's 47ยบ and pouring! What do you suppose all this rain will do to the ski slopes?
