Weekend Reflections

I'm not sure if I posted this one before, but I'll post it again, mainly because I haven't seen any other reflections lately, and most of the water around here has begun to freeze.. It's from the neighboring town, and I go there often looking for the Bald eagle that hangs around this pond.

Friday's Fences.

Last week, we took our newspapers to the recycling center, and on a neighboring street, I just had to stop and take a shot of this fence. The house is beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the fence matches the house.
We got only 8" of snow from that storm, and the local ski resort is so happy!

Weekend Reflections

This is a picture I took last week early in the morning, and there was a wee bit of fog around the hills. This is a pond in the neighboring town. I go there often looking for a Bald eagle that hangs around this pond. He wasn't there on this day, but I did get a reflection.
Well this area doesn't look at all like it did then. We got blasted with a major winter storm last night. I keep track of the snow totals for the Erie Pa TV station, but I haven't ventured out yet to see how much. The winds are very very high, and I'm just thankful we haven't lost power.

Friday's Fences

Driving around, I am always on the lookout for fences. This cute one isn't far from our home, and is decorated with Christmas lights. I wish I could capture it at night, but we don't drive much at night. Barn Charm

In our travels I saw this poor old run down barn. It is huge, and I'm not sure how it stands up to our winters around here. Wonder how many cows it housed in it's hay day??

Weekend Reflections

Last Saturday while driving home from gassing up our van, we saw this gentleman on the edge of Findley lake which is not far from our home, and he was making the most beautiful bubbles. I even saw some casting reflections on the water.

It was getting pretty dark by this time, but it was still light enough to get some good pictures and a cool video, after I remembered to push the REC button on.

Friday's Fences

This is not so much of a special fence as are the shadows cast by the maple trees in front. I passed by this fence an hour earlier and the shadows were much darker, but I couldn't stop because of traffic.

Since I have been out searching for migrating ducks, I seem to find so many Mergansers this year.
Here I found 2 female Hoodies, and they are just so cute with their red hair.

Barn Charm

OK folks, here is a good one for you. Riding way out in Amish country, I spotted this very long barn or whatever it is. There were no other buildings near it to help identify anything. I'm thinking maybe a sawmill too. I'll be interested in whatever you think.

Friday's Fences

Riding around this afternoon, I was disappointed to see this once beautiful fence had gone down hill so bad. I remember several years ago, this fence which covers many acres and held beautiful horses, is now in shambles. The house and barn are in need of big time help too, and in my younger days I would have loved to take on a project to make it gorgeous again.

Wild Bird Wednesday

It was a good day to see water birds on Chautauqua lake, NY. These Ringed-billed gulls were all taking baths, and preening.

Suddenly a flock of Hooded mergansers swam by. They swim pretty fast, and are difficult to photograph. Still I like watching them.

Barn Charm

The weather has been pretty yucky this past weekend, and not especially good for taking pictures, so lets go back to last Fall on a beautiful day when we took a ride to Amish country, and I photographed lots of barns. This is a typical scene we saw the entire trip. Beautiful old barns still being used. Not a one was run down.
