World Bird Wednesday

I saw some juvenile Ring-billed gulls this week. They all congregate around your vehicle begging for food, but won't come close.. By later this summer they will all be smart enough to eat from your hand.. This one gave a great display of it's wings.

Ruby Tuesday

This little guy is Feeny, and he actually watches over the flowers and plants in the garden beneath our big Maple tree. Right now he is sleeping after a busy night I'm sure. The skunks are always digging holes looking for grubs, and Feeny does a fine job of chasing them away.
Happy Ruby Tuesday to all. Do click on over to http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/ to see what Mary/the teach has done with this meme and to see lots more RED.

Macro Monday

Looking at rain drops on the Blue Spruce trees, sometimes you will see reflections, but this time the water will magnify what's below it.
Happy Macro Monday and Happy Memorial Day. Say a prayer for all of our brave service men and women who protect our freedom each and every day, along with all the great service folks from years past. Stay safe...

Left Over

With all the rain this week, I did manage to get out and take a few pictures.

Here is another shot of the canada geese family in my header. That's Mom balancing on one leg. Walking on the one trail that isn't under water still there seem to be so many Pond snails.

At a local fishing hole the Amish have left their buggy to go fishing, and if you look closely to the left of the buggy, and in the trees, you will see their horse.

The first Monarch butterfly of this season. I have never seen one this early around here.

Buttercups are blooming too.

The Titmice babies are growing and demanding lots of food now.

This cool bug was crawling on the willow leaves, and it looks like he had some for dinner too.

This beautiful Azelea bush appeared dead after the winter, but what a surprise when these
flowers appeared,

Hope eveyone is having a good and safe weekend.

Skywatch Friday

After a beautiful day we were expecting a rough evening, and we weren't disappointed. Around 5PM a storm came through here, and although we didn't receive the worse part we still saw this beautiful double rainbow. It was raining during these shots, and the sun shining behind.
Happy Skywatch Friday. Drop on over to http://skyley.blogspot.com to see more sky shots.

Catch up again

This little chipmunk is still keeping out of sight most of the time since Azrael is on the lookout for him. You have to admit he sure is cute with his puffy cheeks full of birdseed. The Robins are still building nests too.

We have a few of these wild Cherry trees.

On a really foggy morning the wild Honeysuckle is covered with dew.

On the upper trail these leaning trees will someday fall into the creek as the banks fall away with all the high water. On the ground are the seed pods from the Aspen trees.

On my daily walk with Tauqua our rescue dog, we pass several groundhog burrows. This guy popped out to say " Hello ". PS I think he needs to see a dentist

Last week we had some very heavy storms that left lots of rain, and French Creek behind our home rose very fast. This shot is down stream where the Canada geese don't seem to mind.

A poor tattered mushroom after the heavy rain.

My orange Azalea is almost ready to open. I'll post more pictures when it does.

A shot from our back yard as the water from the creek rises 6" in 4 hours.

I've been checking on the baby Titmice, and all looks well. They are so tiny. More pictures as they grow.

I'm not going to visit any blogs tonight. We are expecting more thunder storms, and I don't want to be on the computer if they come this way.

World Bird Wednesday

At a place we like to eat lunch by the lake, there are these three adorable ducks that are always looking for a handout. I believe them to be Domestic Mallards, and of course they can't read, so pay no attention to this sign right in the parking lot.

So friendly they will waddle right over to your car the minute you stop, and I can't resist.

They stand there staring at me and I always bring them a treat. Shhh, don't tell anyone I've been feeding them.

They eat out of your hand and actually are quite gentle.

Ruby Tuesday

Saturday was a gorgeous day, and when you don't get that many you take in every minute. We took a ride to Lake Erie and watched the kite flyers. They were in the same area as those huge bubbles on my post Saturday,

Macro Monday

On a very foggy morning look what you might see if you peer close into the center of a spent dandelion flower.
Happy Macro Monday to everybody, and if you click on over to http://lisaschaos.com to see lots more close-ups.

Saturday

The Tom Ridge Environmental Center at the entrance to Presque Isle, Lake Erie was the place we went to today with a fossil we found about 30 years ago. There was a fossil show there today, and anyone could bring a fossil to have the professor go over it and tell you what it was. Ours is 5-6" long and turned out to be a sponge fossil ( Clathrospongia) that lived around 364 million years ago in saltwater. The place we found it was in a shale rock bank where the fresh water cascaded over the top. No saltwater for many many 100's of miles. A ride to the top of this tower and you can see over to Canada across Lake Erie on a clear day. Today was not that kind of day. Way too foggy, but you can see below the Ravine Flyer roller coaster which is ranked as the 6th best wooden coaster in the world.

The parking lot was busy yesterday. All the plants around the parking lot are native to the area.

An excellent day for fishing, and taking pictures of clouds.

Along our ride around the peninsula we come upon several folks flying kites, and just enjoying the beautiful warm day.

This gal was making HUGE bubbles. They were awesome floating through the air, and thoroughly enjoyed by the dogs.

More bubbles.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.
