Skywatch Friday

After a beautiful day we were expecting a rough evening, and we weren't disappointed. Around 5PM a storm came through here, and although we didn't receive the worse part we still saw this beautiful double rainbow. It was raining during these shots, and the sun shining behind.

Skywatch Friday

All in the same day I got these sky shots.
The first one in the morning about 7AM, looking East as the contrails turned pink. The day turned against us as time wore on, and this shot was taken looking West about 5:30 PM. Looks cold doesn't it?

The past few nights we have had some outstanding sunsets here. I was lucky to capture this one Wednesday night looking out over our neighbors roof.

Skywatch Friday

There seems to be lots of fog in our early Fall mornings. As the sun tries to burn through, it gives us a rich glow.

Skywatch Friday

On my early morning walks lately I have encountered plenty of heavy fog. Sometimes it follows the creek, and sometimes it just covers the entire valley. This barn belongs to a neighbor up the road about 1/8 of a mile, and seems to make for cool photos.

Skywatch Friday

For some reason I have decided I need to practice taking moon images with my new camera. It's a beautiful clear night, and perfect for trying different settings.

Skywatch Friday

We've had plenty of these threatening clouds lately, but very little rain. There was a large flock of Turkey Vultures circling above too looking for a meal. If you look closely, you can see a partial halo around the sun.

Skywatch Friday

Last week one day we had an early evening thunder storm. About 15 minuter later, the sun shone, and off to the East we saw this awesome partial rainbow.

Skywatch Friday

Last Saturday we had a quick cold front roll through here just at sunset. It had been quite warm all day, and this was the result.
Happy Skywatch Friday to everyone.

Skywatch Friday

We've had some very cold mornings, and this particular morning it was near 0º The sun was making a bold attempt, but it didn't stay around for very long. As I took this shot it already was beginning to snow, and soon after no more sun.

Skywatch Friday

Merry Christmas to everyone and have a wonderful and safe day.
This sun dog was spotted Thursday afternoon around 3:30pm in the Western sky. It had been a beautiful day and was just beginning to cloud up. There is freezing rain in the forecast for Christmas Day.
Drive careful and stay warm...
