Skywatch Friday

Last Sunday the clouds increased and before nightfall we had rain.
Happy Skywatch Friday everyone. Thanks to all responsible for hosting this fun site. Click on http://skyley.blogspot.com/ to see more sky shots.
The Red Breasted Grosbeak paid us a visit yesterday. And he brought along the Mrs.
Look at who showed up today.
Food fight!

I can't believe this Great Blue Heron stood still. This was just up the road from our home on French Creek.
He was fishing.

Eventually he did take off.
Tuesday we found a really nice trail to walk in Meadville, Pennsylvania. There were many benches to rest on.
A nice stream to sit by.
Even a beautiful covered bridge on the trail.

Wild Strawberry blossoms.
We only walked a short distance as we were on our way South and had about an hour to drive yet, but we'll be back to this trail later.

Macro Monday

For Macro Monday I chose the purple Violet. Right now they are all over our yard. Spring is finally here...
Have a wonderful Monday and thanks to Lisa for hosting this site. Click on http://lisaschaos.com/ to see more macro shots.

FOR THE BIRDS, and toad and woodchuck, and turtle.

What a beautiful day. Temps in the 80's, and sunny most of the day.
On my walk with the dog last evening, we always have to stop along the way and check out the Groundhog holes. All of a sudden one popped out of his burrow. Check out the teeth on this dude. I think he needs to see a dentist!
On the creek trail I found this American Toad.

We also saw this cute Painted Turtle soaking up the sun.
Back home the Nuthatch paid us a visit.
Mr. Hairy Woodpecker is licking the peanut butter .

This shot of a male Goldfinch was taken last week during a hail storm with lots of thunder.
Mr. Downey woodpecker at the suet.
Bottoms up for this Pine Siskin.

This is the Mrs. Purple Finch.
The past few days it has been so windy here, and this Ringed Sea gull sure had it's feathers ruffled.
Last but not least is this male Red- Breasted Merganser. We saw several on a trip to Lake Erie. This duck is a new one for me, and this is as close as I could get.

Love is in the air. The House Finch couple... On Sunday afternoon church at one of the Amish families.

We took a ride to the Union City, Penna Dam to try to find the eagle nest there. We were lucky, but not able to see the 2 chicks. The area all around the nest is posted, and you can't get very close. Some other folks there with big lenses were getting good pictures.

Later I saw this big woodpecker tree. I wish I could have seen the birds that made these holes.

This is the area around the Dam. It's a beautiful area.

Back at home Mary, look what I found out in our back yard. Never saw him before. I had put corn out for the birds, and this Fox squirrel found it. This shot was through the window, and not too clear. I really hope Azrael doesn't find out.

Yesterday afternoon it was just beautiful, and we sat down by the creek for a while. Suddenly this female Common Merganser swam toward us. In this shot she has a fish in her mouth.

I was able to get a bit closer.
Then I heard 2 Northern Flickers up in the tree. I usually see them on the ground looking for ants.
Another beautiful day Saturday. Who knows where we'll go. Have a good day. Get out there and take some pictures.

Skywatch Friday

Happy Skywatch Friday everyone. This shot was taken early one morning after it had rained over night. It turned out to be a beautiful day.
Thanks to all responsible for hosting this site. Click on http://skyley.blogspot.com/ to view lots more great sky shots.
We found another mama Canada goose, and this one isn't too happy either. This one was alone. I didn't see the mate.
Now, back at the mystery nest. I can see a head of something, but still can't make it out.. The land is posted, so I can't get any closer. All of a sudden I spied this Red Tailed Hawk in a tree not too far from the nest.

Then it turned so we could see the front. This bird is quite far away. I even tried binoculars on the nest, but still can't make it out, but I'm sure now it's this hawk's nest.

Forsythia
Male Purple Finch. They are so colorful now.
This male House Sparrow is guarding my Bluebird house. I hate to tell him, he isn't staying...LOL
We had snow showers today, along with rain, and sun. The forecasters are predicting great weather for this week-end. I can't wait!
Take care all.

Watery Wednesday

This is another shot I took last week on our trip to Barcelona, New York on Lake Erie. This is the foot of a shale rock falls. You can see more minnows, and the water splashes on the surface.
Happy Watery Wednesday and thanks so much to 2sweetnsaxy for hosting this meme. Click on http://waterywednesday.blogspot.com/ to see lots more wet photos.

Ruby Tuesday

This morning I took our youngest granddaughter Jalyn to her pre-school "Mommy and Me". class. Jalyn's Mom had a dentist appointment, so today it was " Grandma and Me".
I took some pictures in the Library where they have the class, and saw so much RED.
Here is a book about Dragonology. A really cool mural painted on the wall.
This is Jalyn and Miss Skip. They are playing guess the animal card game.

More RED everywhere.
This is a really neat rug on the floor.
Finally, I love this saying!
Thanks a bunch to mary/the teach for hosting this site. Just click on http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/ to see lots more RED photos.
