Macro Monday

It's time for Macro Monday, and the Sedum is so beautiful this year.
Fall is fast approaching, as can be seen in so many ways. Some I have already mentioned , but more I have noticed that the Baltimore Orioles have left for the South as have the Robins and the Hummingbirds. I will keep my sugar water feeder up a while longer just in case any stragglers stop by.
Rain coming this week for us, and cooler temperatures on the way. Not much we can do but enjoy any and all nice days.

It's time for Macro Monday, and I found this bug on a Milkweed plant in my flower bed. I have searched through all my books, but can't seem to find out what it is. Will keep looking, but if anyone knows the ID I'd love to know. I haven't seen one like it before. Thanks to  Mary from http://faithfabricandphotos.blogspot.com

for finding and ID'ing this Locust Borer bug. We have black locust trees and will look at them since this bug eats them. Happy Monday, and click on http://lisaschaos.com to see lots more close ups.

It's time for Macro Monday, and I have lots of volunteer sunflowers this year and I just love the bright color. I picked a bunch for my sister's birthday on Friday, and they looked so pretty in the big vase. I took them to her house and left them on her porch so she would be surprised when she got home from work.

Macro Monday

It's time for Macro Monday, and this week I found a large Milkweed bug. The milkweed has done well this summer since we didn't have a late killing frost, and there seems to be plenty of these bugs.

These past few days I've had the juvenile Hairy woodpeckers at my feeders. This is a male waiting for Mom to feed him when he is perfectly capable of taking care of himself.

It's Macro Monday again, and last Friday I visited my favorite greenhouse with the intent of just asking them questions about a lemon tree I recently bought. Of course I couldn't get away without buying something else. I came away with this cool cactus, and now it has 2 of the 4 blossoms open.

It's time for Macro Monday again, and we all have these little honeys in our yards. In my yard the dandelions are almost all spent and then we will be free from their fuzzies till next Spring.

Well, you can tell Spring is here. The raccoons are back, and once again raiding my bird feeders. I found this footprint yesterday morning on the step to our deck. It was very frosty out, and that left a cool imprint.

I set a trap last night, but when I got up at 3AM to check on it, the big mama coon was sitting right in the middle of the feeder helping herself to all the seed. The trap hadn't been sprung. They are so clever. If I catch her, and I will, we'll take her for a long ride out to the deep woods someplace. There was a skunk under the feeders too, but he was lucky this time. I'll catch him eventually. From now on, I'll be bringing all my hanging feeders inside at night.

With a potential nasty snow storm heading our way, I went  out in the rain this afternoon to take some shots of my Flowering crab tree. If we do get wet snow these blossoms will be done for this year.

I went Orchid shopping this past week, and came home with this beauty. When I go looking for a new one, I always try to get a different one that I don't already have. This particular one has a very light fragrance.

If you look close right in the center a shape that looks like a human nose..

It's Monday again, and Sunday afternoon I took a walk on the creek trail, and spotted this lone crocus in my back yard. About 30 years ago when we moved to this house, I planted some Crocus' in the back yard, and over the years they have all disappeared except this one and a yellow one that blossom each Spring.
