Macro Monday

It's time for Macro Monday, and I found this bug on a Milkweed plant in my flower bed. I have searched through all my books, but can't seem to find out what it is. Will keep looking, but if anyone knows the ID I'd love to know. I haven't seen one like it before. Thanks to  Mary from http://faithfabricandphotos.blogspot.com
for finding and ID'ing this Locust Borer bug. We have black locust trees and will look at them since this bug eats them. Happy Monday, and click on http://lisaschaos.com to see lots more close ups.

Middle of the week

Our trails are really getting overgrown with all the humid hot weather and occasional rain.
All of a sudden the fungus appears. This one on an old stump looked like yellow lumpy jelly. It was all changed the next day.

These cuties are on the same stump.
Lots of green worms this year.

I have no idea what this is, but interesting just the same. Always tried to get away from me.
Joan ( the Bug Lady) from South African Photographs says this is a baby Stinkbug. How cool! Thanks Joan.!.

A Stinkbug laying eggs.

Common Burdock

More rain coming our way. The property is beginning to look like a jungle. The garden is loving it!

More from home

On my morning walk recently there were so many slugs inching their way across the road. Not too many will make it... In my ever continuing search for Butterflies, I finally found this Pearly Crescentspot.

We stopped along a Pennsylvania Game Lands road to photograph some Black-eyed Susans, and I heard this House Wren singing at the top of his lungs.

He sang for quite a while, and I got lots of pictures.

In the same area were lots of Red Clover, and plenty of Bumblebees.

Driving along side a huge field of big round hay bales, I spotted an immature Red Tailed Hawk. He was eating something he had caught, but as soon as I stopped the van he quit eating.

Cute little Lady Bug. I think it looks like it's eating Aphids..

Daisy's in my flower garden. I carried Daisy's in my wedding bouquet.
Yesterday Gary and I celebrated our 41st anniversary. .
Where did the time go? It seems just like yesterday, but then again it was a long time ago and another story. We'll go out to dinner Thursday.

True love and lots of flowers

It's that time of year, and these Cardinals are so cute. The Mr. feeding the Mrs.
Sorry the pictures are sort of faded. They were partly in the sun and I was in the house.
Now these two were in the middle of the road, and that's where I left them. Some kind of fly no doubt.

Johnny Jump-ups, or Viola.

My white Peonies. So far the rain hasn't ruined them, but we're getting more rain tonight. The fragrance is so powerful and I just love them.

Here is a pink Poppy. I have several plants along with orange and white ones.

This is a white and pink wild multiflora Rose. We have many on our property
, and they are so impressive this year.
A single blossom of the wild Yellow Iris growing in and around the swamps

A beautiful but cool day today. Rain looming off in the distance. The creek is just now receding from the storm we had Saturday night. No frost last night although we covered up ALL our plants.

JUST STUFF

We took a trip to the Amish greenhouse earlier this week . They were having a 2 for 1 sale. We also stopped at another greenhouse and I bought 3 Daylilies. The one in this picture is the only one blooming so far. The bud is HUGE and this flower is 6" long. Most of the baby Orioles are now eating on their own, all except this one. She still wants to be waited on.

A Garlic top almost ready to bloom. I like the "Turks Cap".

I'm not too sure what this bug is. It might be a young Milkweed bug.

This is another Daylily. Sorry, I don't know their names.

This Bee Balm was found on the trail behind our son and daughter-in-law's growing near those Canada Lilys that I posted on Ruby Tuesday.

I bought 2 Roses at the greenhouse too. This one is beginning to open.

The Coneflowers are trying to open, and now I expect to see some Butterflies!

We're expecting rain for Saturday. That's OK. The garden needs watering.
Have a wonderful and safe week-end.

First, an up-date on the baby chick. He/she is doing really well, and growing like a weed.
I think the feathers on the wings will be brown, and there are plenty of feathers on the legs. I'll post more when he/she gets bigger yet. He is still staying close to Mom. This is the web of the Funnel Weaver spider.

I think this is the Oyster plant. As kids we called them Indian paintbrushes. CORRECTION This is actually the orange Hawkweed says Cicero http://cicerosings.blogspot.com/. Thanks so much. There were 100's of ants on this stem, and I have no idea what they were up to.
Black Raspberries in the making.
Forget-me-nots. There are so many this year.
Down by the creek-Reflections.
I surprised this Green Heron and he flew up the creek to the next open area. That is why this picture isn't so good, but at least I got him. This is the 2nd time in as many days I've seen him, but the other time I didn't have my camera. Shame on me! I jotted down in my Sibley's when I saw a Green Heron last year and it was the 22nd of June. I wonder if it is the same bird?
. This creature was on a Milk Weed plant. I don't have an insect book-yet-. Must get one.
I hope your week-end is going well.
