Middle of the week

Our trails are really getting overgrown with all the humid hot weather and occasional rain.
All of a sudden the fungus appears. This one on an old stump looked like yellow lumpy jelly. It was all changed the next day.

These cuties are on the same stump.
Lots of green worms this year.

I have no idea what this is, but interesting just the same. Always tried to get away from me.
Joan ( the Bug Lady) from South African Photographs says this is a baby Stinkbug. How cool! Thanks Joan.!.

A Stinkbug laying eggs.

Common Burdock

More rain coming our way. The property is beginning to look like a jungle. The garden is loving it!

An afternoon walk

Before we take a walk on our trails, we were out watching trains early Tuesday morning and I spied this Eastern Bluebird high up on a telegraph wire.. I tried to coax him to my house, but didn't have any luck. Then on the way home we saw this Easter egg tree.
These Crocus are in my front yard.

Along the road blooming is the Coltsfoot, one of the earliest wild flowers to show it's faces. I have very fond memories of my Dad mentioning every year that "The little yellow flowers are out". If you look closely at them, they have quite thick stems.

At one of my peanut butter feeders, a female Hairy woodpecker comes for a snack.

On the Llama trail are some fungi growing on an old beaver stump. Speaking about beavers, we had my game camera set up on the beaver trail for 3 days, but didn't see any. Now I moved it behind the house where I saw deer tracks.

We've had the first of several days of beautiful weather. Tomorrow we're going to try searching for beach glass. Have a grand day yourself.

First, I must tell you today is my anniversary of 1 year since I began blogging. I have to give a HUGE thanks to my cousin Kristine for talking to me for nearly 2 hours on the phone all the way from Virginia, and giving me badly needed help and advise to get me started! I have enjoyed this past year so much, I have "met" so many wonderful people and hopefully I will be able to continue for many years to come.
Since it is another snowy day, and there aren't any new birds to photograph, I got desperate for something else. Can you imagine my surprise when I saw this mushroom growing in my terrarium. It only lasted one day, and I think I found it in my mushroom book. A Lemon -yellow Lepiota. The write-up says they can grow all year in-doors. On the ground, in leaf litter, compost, in greenhouses and on house plants. I guess I qualify for a couple of those. Any way it's poisonous. While sitting on my stump in front of the wood stove, I looked at the wood rack and saw some cool fungus growing on the ends of some of the logs.

I'm not familar with fungi, but they are neat just the same.

Same as the one above, different camera setting.
I think this is a Polypores, paper fungi.

I hope you're all having a wonderful day.

Around Here

I took a creek walk yesterday afternoon., and managed to see this Wood duck drake before he spotted me. Something I rarely can do. They have to be my all time favorite duck. We found a dead one several years ago on our upper trail, and I was so amazed at the beautiful colors. I did get a couple more shots before he swam away.
About this time he did see me and off he went.

Of course Azrael always accompanies me on my walks. These 2 stumps are where we sit in the early spring to do some birdwatching before too many leaves come out on the trees.
Some fungi on a fallen log.
It's time to get the last of the higher up apples. We picked up this vintage apple picker many years ago at an auction, and it works great!
It's going to be another nice day, BUT looking at the extended forecast there is some pretty unsure weather coming early next week, cold and possible SNOW, so we'd better enjoy these good ones while we can.
Have a wonderful day all.
