This, That, and the Other

We stopped at a beautiful Amish greenhouse yesterday afternoon. This is the view you see as you drive down the entrance. There is a gorgeous log home, barns, and a big pond. In the winter they process deer meat. They have 6 greenhouses with everything you could ever want. I know it's early, but I bought 3 Patio tomatoes, a hanging Tom Thumb tomato for my greenhouse, and a hanging Lobelia. When the weather settles down we'll go back. I would have taken lots of pictures, but didn't think I should. Out back of the log home, is this cool bird feeder. I think we could fashion something similar from an old childs swing set. I'll be looking into this.

This is the other picture I got of the Fox. He stayed for a minute, and then some birds began chasing him. Boy can he run. I think he also lost what he had caught. White crowned Sparrow and a House Finch in our back yard.

Grey Catbird down on our Creek trail. They have a nest nearby, but I haven't found it yet.

I'm still watching that big nest up the road. Today there was a bird sitting near the nest. I can't get closer, but I still think it's a Red-tailed Hawk.

The Rose breasted Grosbeak has been here every day. Can you see me now?

No sign of the Mrs. yet.
Mrs. Baltimore Oriole will stop by the hummer feeder for a taste.

Up hill and down dale.

and yet another victim of the heavy winter snows.

I'll post some of my recent wildflower shots tomorrow.

More Catch-up

I do need to catch-up. We're excited because my Bantam Silkie hen is setting on 6 eggs. I have her by herself in a special pen. It's been 3 days now, and the chicks should hatch by May 20th. give or take a day . I'll keep you posted. All the eggs aren't hers, but she doesn't mind being mama to all of them.
Mrs. Downey woodpecker is around the area now.

She's not sure who is watching her.
Dandelions really are pretty.

Just another old barn I liked.
This house is not far from where we used to live, and was over 100 years old 30 years ago. They have lots of different kinds of sheep.
These 3 escapees were getting better grass.
This Canada goose has this pond all to itself. I bet there is a mate somewhere close.
It's raining here tonight, and cold. It's not supposed to warm up for a few days.

DAY TRIP

On Wednesday we took a day trip to East Aurora, New York. We needed to pick up Gary's locomotive that we dropped off last week for service. We used our GPS and let " Lizzie" take us there on all the back roads.
On the way we passed an Amish man driving these 2 horses with a small boy riding on the back. Driving through Brockton, New York we see the arches in the center of town. They have Christmas lights on the arches and are very pretty when lighted at night.
In this little corn field is a small flock of about 10 turkeys.

I wasn't able to get very close, and because of the traffic, we didn't stay very long, but I wanted to catch the Tom strutting his stuff, and he was very proud. Unfortunately he just wouldn't turn toward us, so all I got was his back-side.

We decided to watch trains while we ate the picnic lunch I packed, BUT this car carrier train was sitting idle on the siding and was blocking all the rest of the tracks, so we moved to another area. I just liked this BIG old building. I have no idea what was in there, but it had plenty of room.

This old barn was another goodie. Would you believe out back was a pasture with 3 horses. I bet they live in this barn...

We had a good day. Gary got his locomotive back all fixed, and the weather cooperated till we got home, and then it began to rain. Very windy all day too. Have a great Thursday all.

It was a beautiful day Friday, and we took a ride to enjoy the sun. I took lots of pictures, but for some reason I can't get them loaded into Picasa. I will try tomorrow again.
Anyway this was taken Thursday afternoon. A Red Tailed hawk came out of nowhere. He is beautiful, and landed in a tree not far away, but the sun was shining on the camera, and I couldn't find him on the screen, when all of a sudden he flew away. These are the only 2 pictures I got of him.
A couple old barns that are neat.

Sorry, that's all I have. I'll be working to get my pictures from Friday on the computer.
Have a wonderful week-end.
