Skywatch Friday

Here it is Friday again, and first I want to THANK all who inquired about Gary over the past few days. He had a heart problem that required a few days stay in the hospital, and now has a pacemaker, and I'm pleased to say he is doing well.
This shot was taken at daybreak yesterday morning, and it turned out to be a beautiful day.
Thanks to the gang at Skywatch for this meme, and if you click on http://skyley.blogspot.com/ you can see lots more sky shots.

Hiatus

I will be taking a hiatus for a few days. Gary is in the hospital for a short stay I hope.
I'll be back as soon as I can.
Love you all!

More gloomy weather

Another gloomy day. sigh! 6" of snow again yesterday too, and it is heavy and wet. Not very good for taking pictures.
This Tree sparrow is tired of all the cold weather. As soon as Spring breaks we won't see these guys any more till next fall. We were treated to freezing rain last night also. Signs of it were everywhere.
Four and twenty Blackbirds in my front and back yards.

The female Red-winged blackbirds were scarce on this day. Mostly males everywhere.

I had to share this picture of Tauqua in his bed. I took all the stuffed animals off the bed, and he let me cover him and them with the pillow covers and I actually thought he was comfy.

Weekend Reflections

Winter is still with us, and tonight we are getting freezing rain. Mother nature wants us to know she is still in control.

Skywatch Friday

With all the cloudy and rain filled days we've had, and then a few clear ones, not too much to take as far as skies go. I looked back in my files for this sunset taken back in 2008.
Happy Skywatch everyone. Click on http://skyley.blogspot.com to see lots more sky shots.

March winds blow

A few sunny days have begun to appear, and we take advantage.
At a nearby small town, this Amish horse and buggy wait while the owner does some shopping. The local ski resort is still in full swing after a great season.
Of course after all the rain we had last weekend it suddenly got very cold, and froze on everything.

We have a great place to eat lunch, and are awarded with a pretty cool Union Pacific engine.

Now, I know this isn't a very good picture, but I just had to show this Coot that walked up from the flooded creek and got close enough to touch. She was all ice covered, and didn't seem to mind that I was clicking away with my camera. I only got 3 decent pictures, and this is the best of those. I watched for quite a while, but she walked along the foundation of the house and somehow disappeared. We don't see Coots around this area and I'm wondering if she got blown off migration course during the heavy rainstorm.

A back view of the Cooper's hawk. I haven't seen him for the past 3-4 days. Maybe he has found the neighboring farm's pigeons..

Cold, wind, and rain today. More of March's goodies, but don't forget to set your clocks 1 hour ahead this Saturday night. YEAH!

World Bird Wednesday

The first day this week when the sun finally made an appearance, we took to the road and checked out the Eagles nest about 10 miles from here. No activity yet, but on the way home I spotted 3 Red-tailed hawks. 2 of them flew away and the 3rd one turned his back to me so all that was showing was his magnificent red tail.
