Watery Wednesday

Last week-end we all went to Pymatuning State Park in West central Pennsylvania. They have several large lakes there and one of them is full of huge Carp that you can feed. This shot shows some of the 100's of geese and ducks that all compete with the Carp for food.

Thanks to 2sweetnsaxy for keeping this meme going.

Pymatuning State Park

As promised here is a shot of Monty as "he" is right now and will be for the next 10-12 days. We took a trip with the granddaughters, and their parents to Pymatuning State Park yesterday. I posted pictures from here last Spring and this is where you can feed all the 1000's of Carp along with geese, Sea Gulls and ducks. There were lots of people there and everybody had big bags of bread. Here someone has thrown an entire loaf. It didn't last too long.
This is the spillway, and you can see all the Carp in the water.

I believe this is a Green-winger Teal, and there were 100's of them. Correction. Mary says these are Mallards, and I think they must be juveniles because they all look the same. Thanks Mary.

Of course there is always time for Canada Goose pictures.

These carp are always begging. How about a BIG kiss. LOL

Open wide...

Pandamonium....

There is a nice snack stand there too, and plenty of food for the fish for sale. Of course it's much cheaper if you bring your own from home. Pretty Black eyed Susans.

If you throw bread up in the air the gulls will sometimes catch it.

We had a nice day followed by a picnic lunch, and even the weather cooperated. It rained in the morning, and then again after we got home.

Pymatuning State Park Part #2

Here are some of the rest of the pictures from Pymatuning State Park. Of the Carp, some reach over 2 1/2 ft. long.
Plenty of hungry mouths.
Mr. and Mrs. Mallard.Big hungry mouths!

Mrs. Mallard looking quite pretty. The water looks like satin...
The onlookers wait their turn.

Some get a bit anxious.
Some have a messy take off..

I took lots more, but these are the best of the group. I took pictures of some old buildings on the way down. Of course we saw a train too, so there are shots of that and some of a Pheasant farm we passed on the way. Then there is Saturday and Sunday. I don't know when to quit! LOL Oh my it's a good thing I'm not buying film! I got pictures of some absolutely awesome clouds this evening. Check back later to see them.
Have a great week.♥

Pymatuning State Park

On Friday we drove to Pymatuning State Park in Pennsylvania. There they have several large and small lakes. In one area between 2 of the lakes is a spillway. The area around the spillway is full of huge Carp. During the summer months the Carp will literally come out of the water after food thrown to them by tourists. There will also be 100's and 100's of Canada Geese fighting for the food too and they will walk on the backs of the fish trying to steal it away from them. On Friday it was sunny but really chilly, and the Carp weren't moving all that fast. There were some Geese, but not like during warmer weather. Also present were Mallard ducks, and Ringed Sea Gulls.

We had nothing but Rice cakes to feed them, and it wasn't high on their list of priority's.

Can you tell the Geese don't like the Gulls very much?
I liked the shadow of the head and neck on the water.

This goose could be using this feather as a sail. LOL

Another interesting shadow.
What happened to this guy's head?

I have lots more pictures, but this is enough for now. Stay tuned for more.. HAVE A WONDERFUL SUNDAY!
