World Bird Wednesday

Here it is Wednesday again, and look what showed up at my yard today. I put up a coon guard around the Bluebird house, and I'm so hoping they will stay.

This last shot might show the male calling for his honey.

Tuesday

Here it is Tuesday morning, and as I post this on my blog today the temperature is 52ºF - 12 C
The skies are clearing after some rain last night. The grass is actually getting greener too. This is June like weather and we're technically still in winter! My chickens are loving it because they can scratch in the dirt and pull up worms since the ground never did freeze very deep this year. But the rough part for us humans is that it might be a bad year for all insects including mosquitoes and ticks since there wasn't enough cold weather to kill the eggs.
Now on to the above picture. We were on our way to watch trains when I spotted this young Amish man driving his team of draft horses down the road. I was quite far away when I took this, so I'm sure he didn't notice.
At our train watching spot the Bluebirds are still there and this time I saw 2 females and one male.
Looking around for something to photograph while waiting for trains, I spotted this squirrels nest across the tracks next to a large grape field.
I watched for a long time while this big gray squirrel ran up and down the tree each time going to it's nest leaving off something, and then back down the trunk.
In the nearby town there is a large population of black squirrels, and I would like to photograph them sometime, but I never can be there at just the right time, and most of them live in some one's yard.
Well, the sun is out in all it's glory, so I'd better get a load of wash out on the clothes line, then we have to go to the transfer station to recycle all our plastic and glass.
Have a wonderful day all.

Macro Monday

It's Monday again, and Sunday afternoon I took a walk on the creek trail, and spotted this lone crocus in my back yard. About 30 years ago when we moved to this house, I planted some Crocus' in the back yard, and over the years they have all disappeared except this one and a yellow one that blossom each Spring.
Happy Monday and if you click on over to http://lisaschaos.com to see lots more close ups.

Gorgeous day!

It appears like it's going to be a beautiful day. Happy Sunday everyone.
The Goldfinches definately are getting the color change. I haven't had many birds this morning, but the air is filled with their wonderful songs.
Here is the Waning Gibbous moon around 7AM this morning. Last night it was orange for a while but I didn't get outside to photograph it.
The skies are already busy too. Lots of contrails throughout the day yesterday.
This is Tweetie. She was the one and only chick that survived 2 years ago from her Mom Snowflake. I'm not sure what happened with the rest of the eggs in that clutch, I don't think they were fertile, but Tweetie is a good girl. She gives us lots of tasty eggs, and I just love her feathered legs. Her Mom is a pure white Silkie hen and her Dad is a multi colored Silkie rooster.
Hope the weekend is going well for everyone.

Weekend Reflections

Well, here it is the weekend again, and we continue to have this crazy weather. One minute it's clear, sunny and 55 deg. In the next 12 hours more snow, high winds, and 27 deg. Then again this whole winter has been less than a winter at all. Then I'm not complaining. The poor Robins are very confused..
More reflections with water. Sorry, but it's all I could find.
Have a wonderful weekend, and click on over to http://weekendreflection.blogspot.com to see lots more reflections.

Skywatch Friday

Here is Friday again, and the skies around here every other day have been less than photogenic! This particular day we had these clouds all day and very high winds. I did like the way the sun shone down through the clouds though..
Happy Skywatch. Do click on over to http://skyley.blogspot.com to see lots more sky shots.

Thursday

From home this female Red-bellied woodpecker comes every day, but I have yet to see the male.
Not much going on in the world of photography here. A beautiful day, but I didn't get out on the trails. We did watch trains for a bit, and I saw this Bluebird again. At least I think it's the same one I've seen several time this winter. It never left for the South this year.
Also an every day visitor is this female Hairy woodpecker.
Have a wonderful rest of the week. Tomorrow we're expecting rain. Guess I'll have to stay home and catch up on housework.
