Weekend Reflections

I didn't go anyplace this week to take any reflection shots, and in desperation this afternoon I saw this reflection of our deck and other objects in the glass of my china cabinet.
Happy Weekend everyone, and be sure to click on http://newtowndailyphoto.blogspot.com/

Skywatch Friday

We have had a few sunny days lately, BUT the temps remain SOOO cold. It's going down below 0 deg again tonight. But the weather folks say a warm-up is in sight. Then all the melting will begin :~(

Happy Skywatch Friday everybody. Click on over to http://skyley.blogspot.com/ to see lots more sky shots.

My greenhouse

Even though we have had some sun the past few days, the temperature out side has been bitter cold, and with that wind whipping around every corner, we haven't ventured out to take many pictures. The same gang at the feeders too, so nothing there to photograph either.
Yesterday I took all the plants out of the greenhouse, washed all the windows, vacuumed all the cobwebs, and swept the floor.. I even gave the plants a bath, and trimmed away the dead leaves. We heat with wood in the winter, and you can't believe how dirty those windows were and that will keep lots of good light from reaching the plants.
The following pictures show the Orchids that are blooming right now. Some of these flowers will keep for months, but then again they might not bloom again for another year. The little pitcher pump you see in this first picture has running water coming from the spout adding to the humidity.

World Bird Wednesday

Last winter I felt very lucky to see this leucistic or partial albino Dark-eyed Junco. He stayed the entire winter, but didn't return this year. He stayed with all the other dark-eyed Juncos.

If you click on http://pineriverreview.blogspot.com you can see lots more birds.

Macro Monday

It's Macro Monday again already and we had some freezing rain earlier this week. Lots of bubbles in this shot along with a few frozen in time snow flakes.

Simple

Last Thursday we had an absolutely gorgeous day. We went for a ride, and these are some of the shots I took. I love fences with shadows. This is the other side.
Maple trees on a hill. Gotta love that blue sky.

We came across this huge snow blower cleaning up some of the high drifts.

Back at home these crows will sit up in the trees for a long time, and watch all the birds eat up all the corn I put out for them.

The ever present Turkeys show up every day at least twice. I'm hoping that when breeding season rolls around they will bring in a big Tom turkey. They LOVE sunflower seeds.

Well, we didn't get much snow today yet. No sun either. :~(
Tomorrow is the Super Bowl. GO STEELERS!
