Weekend Reflections

I just had to post this for Weekend Reflections.
This first shot is a close up of water droplets on the side of a small bottle of water after it was out of the fridge about 30 minutes. Note the deck railing in the background. Now turn the picture a quarter turn.

Enlarge, and see the reflection of the railing in the water.

Happy Weekend Reflections everyone. Click on over to http://newtowndailyphoto.blogspot.com to see lots more reflections.

Skywatch Friday

We are on the road on a short vacation, and this place has awesome clouds. This was earlier in the day yesterday. Then we were treated to this beautiful sunset. Sorry about the wires, but I guess they are part of everyday living.

Taking a small trip

We're on a short vacation in Gallitzin, Penna and are here to watch trains 24/7. We're staying at a B&B right along the Norfolk Southern mainline. If you like trains, this is the place for you!
This shot was taken in Juanita, Penna where there is lots of action, and a huge repair shop. It used to be the home for the Pennsylvania Railroad, once the largest railroad in the world! Today we took a ride to the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, and IF you don't wish to hoof it up to the top of the mountain via the stairs to watch the trains wind their way around the famous curve, you can ride aboard the funicular. It goes up every half hour, and will get you up to the top and you will not even be out of breath. LOL

As one car comes down, another goes up, and they pass by in the middle.

Once at the top looking East down into the valley of Altoona, Pennsylvania. If the leaves weren't on the trees, you could see the trains actually driving from one side of this mountain range to the other side. The water you can see is just one of 2 lakes of water supply for the city of Altoona.

For some reason I'm having trouble posting tonight. I don't know if it's the wireless here at the B&B or what, but everything is loading so slow, so I'm not going to post any more. I have lots more pictures, and will put them on for Sunday.

World Bird Wednesday

We have lots of Turkey Vultures in our area, and it is so amazing how these big birds can soar for the longest time on the air currents without ever flapping their wings. They are also very protective of their lunch, and will many times challenge you in your vehicle if you get too close.
Happy World Bird Wednesday and do click on over to http://pineriverreview.blogspot.com to see lots more bird shots.

Ruby Tuesday

Driving home a few days ago we came upon a flock of Turkey Vultures eating along the side of the road on a dead raccoon. They are very deviant, and some wouldn't get out of the road, so I had plenty of opportunity to get pictures.

Happy Ruby Tuesday and click on over to http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/ to see lots more RED.

Macro Monday

This little Chipmunk has been making regular visits to my bird feeders, and either he now has his pouch really full of sunflower seeds, or a really bad toothache.
Anyway, do click on over to http://lisaschaos.com to see lots more closeups.

Weeks end

This is the male Mute swan and dad to the little guy I posted in Weekend Reflections. He is very protective of his family and so proud. You just don't get too close either, or he will show you how protective he is. In my back yard at the feeders are some of the baby birds still begging food even though they are very able to feed themselves.

I have lots of pink poppies in bloom.

On the creek trail a pair of Mallard ducks on French Creek.

Just below the Mallards are a pair of Wood ducks. Actually when I spotted them they were all hanging out together. The Wood ducks are lots more spooky and took off as soon as they saw me.

Now I have two more Chipmunks swiping seed from the birds. Azrael will be watching I'm sure.

We have had some nice weather this week, and it's really easy to get used to.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
