Saturday

The Tom Ridge Environmental Center at the entrance to Presque Isle, Lake Erie was the place we went to today with a fossil we found about 30 years ago. There was a fossil show there today, and anyone could bring a fossil to have the professor go over it and tell you what it was. Ours is 5-6" long and turned out to be a sponge fossil ( Clathrospongia) that lived around 364 million years ago in saltwater. The place we found it was in a shale rock bank where the fresh water cascaded over the top. No saltwater for many many 100's of miles. A ride to the top of this tower and you can see over to Canada across Lake Erie on a clear day. Today was not that kind of day. Way too foggy, but you can see below the Ravine Flyer roller coaster which is ranked as the 6th best wooden coaster in the world.

The parking lot was busy yesterday. All the plants around the parking lot are native to the area.

An excellent day for fishing, and taking pictures of clouds.

Along our ride around the peninsula we come upon several folks flying kites, and just enjoying the beautiful warm day.

This gal was making HUGE bubbles. They were awesome floating through the air, and thoroughly enjoyed by the dogs.

More bubbles.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

WOW and WOW again to those bubbles!!! Lucky dogs too to have such good sport.

So glad you had such a nice day out Becky. We have just returned from a long walk along part of the foreshore of Sydney Harbour with our son which also was very enjoyable as was last nights viola concert by our youngest granddaughter.

Love the bubbles! We used to have one of those huge bubble blowers and had lots of fun with the kids and nieces and nephews. Seeing these makes me want to hunt for it and see if it still works :-)
