I took a walk on our trails this afternoon, and there is this one tree that has this fuzzy white vine growing all over it, and I have no idea what it is, but I think it's pretty.
I put peanuts out on my feeders today, and it did bring the Blue jays. This guy was high up in the tree, but still keeping an eye on me.
We drove back to that dirt road where we saw the Bittersweet a couple days ago. There were actually some pretty leaves to see even though the area got around 7" of snow that day. PS, I got myself some Bittersweet too, and found 2 more vines with plenty of berries. I'll remember this for next year. I used them in my arrangement in the bay window around the base of the big pumpkin.
Good Morning all. It was a blustery day and we have about 2" of snow. Towns farther to the south got much more. The old Indians call this Squaw winter. When this is finished we'll get Indian summer, and the temperatures could reach the upper 60's. Won't that be nice? The Indians gathered one more raiding party before winter during this time when there was no snow on the ground and their enemies couldn't track them back to their camps.
Driving down the road to look for pumpkins. At this point the snow wasn't sticking.
This is the Bittersweet bush/ shrub where I took the shot that is in my header. I just love Bittersweet for holiday decorations, and we found this growing along side a dirt road out in the "boonies". I might have to go back there and snip some. I do have my own growing, but it doesn't have any berries. Behind this bush was a huge one in the woods, but no way to get to it.
These are the leaves of a pink Azalea.
The creek trail is covered with dried leaves making the walk quite crunchy sounding. It's difficult to sneak up on an unsuspecting animal now. And don't you just LOVE the nutty smell of the woods at this time of year.
A Sycamore leaf lazily bobbing atop the water on it's journey down French creek and eventually to the Mississippi River.
Another of my "new" chickens. She is a Polish hen, and as of today I don't have a name for her yet. Any suggestions?
Well, I must get going. Lots to do. Have a wonderful day, stay dry and warm, and try to take at least one photo.
Leaf from a Sycamore tree. Some of them get huge.
