Happy Skywatch Friday and a shot of the clouds passing over the moon last evening about 7:30PM.

Just Stuff

In the hot sun, this Robin tries to cool off. It's been a good year for the birds. They are everywhere, and in great numbers. A pair of Barn swallows rest on the wire during the afternoon sun too.

Another daily visitor to the grape jelly is this male Orchard Oriole.

One morning last week very early, as the sun shone between the trees, you can see the flowers of this Hosta. This is the first time in a long time that we haven't had a killing frost after these plants have leafed out.

Earlier last week when we went over to Ohio, there were 2 Canada geese families, that kept begging for food as I walked around the ponds.

Lots of spent Cattails.

We're in a real hot spell now, and the field corn is growing by leaps and bounds. Have a great rest of the week everyone..

World Bird Wednesday

After all the rain we had early this Spring, today was the first time I had to actually walk all the trails. We mowed over the weekend, but they still need lots of grooming. I spotted this Green Heron in the shallow water and at first he didn't see me, but then as you can see in this next shot, he became on high alert.

Ruby Tuesday

We saw this barn, and I think it's a barn, last week, and I love the design. There is no house to go with, and no pasture etc. I did see a hay wagon in the doorway, but I'm wondering what this "barn" will be used for.

Macro Monday

Last night I was sitting at my computer desk, and looked up to see the window covered with flying insects. I thought a shot of this spider might make a good Macro Monday picture. I don't know what kind it is, and I've looked through all my books. At any rate I'm sure it had lots for supper.
Happy Macro Monday. Click on over to http://lisaschaos.com to see what Lisa has done with this fun meme.
Happy July 4th too. What a marvelous country we have! !

Taking a small trip

As an interest to whomever cares, I looked out the window after dark the other night at the back yard, and lo and behold 4 skunks! There is a 3rd one hidden in the bushes, and the 4th, possibly Mom was right under my window. I did manage to scare them away, but they did return around 2AM and left their calling card! That's what I get for shooing them away from under the bird feeders. The Sumac trees are spectacular this year. Our only tropical looking tree.

We took a ride last week to Conneaut, Ohio and spent some time at this wonderful little park. A paved walkway around the entire park with 2 large ponds, lots of memorial trees planted and flowers everywhere.

Duckweed covers this part of the pond, and there are lots of Bullfrogs.

I have more pictures, and I'll post them next week.

I hope everybody is having a great holiday. Stay safe.

Weekend Reflections

On a recent trip to a restaurant we noticed a really cool pond beside the parking lot. It had plenty of water lilies, and I didn't notice till I uploaded the picture that there was a reflection.
Happy weekend everybody, and be sure to click on http://newtowndailyphoto.blogspot.com to see lots more reflections.
