Weekend Reflections

Looking out my computer room window yesterday, I noticed this reflection of the ceiling fan in the room.
Happy weekend to everyone. We're having a streak of warmer weather, and the snow we got is melting. :~)

Skywatch Friday

We were treated to a sunny day, and we took a ride to the local ski resort to watch all the activities. The sun going down gave to interesting contrails.

It's Thursday Again

Just some shots from around home. With 12" of snow the past few days, we haven't been on the road very much.
The Mourning doves resting on the snow, and what they didn't know a Sharpie hawk was spying on them.
Frosty doing what she does best. Napping the whole day. Of course she has the night shift and keeps Tauqua company all night.
A few of the gang stopping in for lunch.
Leaving their feet prints in the snow. They are so cute!
Just practicing my moon shots. We get so few clear skies in the winter, one must take the moment., and today was the day.
A Waxing Gibbous moon.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.

World Bird Wednesday

                                        Pine Siskin
With winter apparently here to stay (maybe), the locals have come out of the trees in great numbers. We got 12" of snow the past 3 days.. Here are just a few, and they are eating me out of house and home...
Juvenile House Finch.
Below is a lone Double-crested Cormorant we saw last week in the harbor on Lake Erie. Maybe he was doing some preening before his big trip South.
The American Goldfinch is a favorite, and I have lots that hang around all year.
Of course the Sharp-shinned hawk continues to spy on all the birds, but left today with an empty stomach from my yard at least.

Ruby Tuesday

Now that winter has supposedly arrived, and we did get 10" of snow so far today, the birds that have been keeping away came in great numbers this morning. I was ready for them, and provided a great feast.

Macro Monday

Each time we get near the lake I just can't resist taking pictures of the Gulls.
This one was especially pretty I thought.
These are Ring-billed gulls, and very popular around here.

Happy New Year

On a foggy afternoon we checked in the harbor on Lake Erie, and all I saw was this lone Double -crested Cormorant. If he is on his was south he better get a move on. A snow storm is predicted tomorrow, and we're gonna get it evenyually.
Drizzle all day and temps in the 30's
Happy New Year everyone. Stay safe.
Just checking around the area..
Time for a little preening. Maybe getting ready for the long trip to his winter grounds.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
