Weekend Reflections

This afternoon we took a ride to Chautauqua Lake and while I was feeding some ducks, I noticed this reflection in the window of our van. We finally got some sun...It is wonderful!

Skywatch Friday

I took this cloud picture a couple years ago near Altoona, Pennsylvania during an afternoon when there was so many awesome formations. I thought this one looks like a Poodle dog. What do you think.
Happy Skywatch Friday to everybody. If you click on http://skyley.blogspot.com you can see what the gang has done with this great meme.

Mishmash

Although not the best picture, you can see 4 male Baltimore Orioles all trying to get to the grape jelly. A female Ruffed Grouse scurries across the road in front of our van.

This is the only picture I have of a Bobolink. I have tried for a long time, and I just can't seem to get one to hold still. They are very spooky.

Driving by this farm today I really got the attention of this Llama when I began humming to him.

It rained all day yesterday and this pair of House Finches still showed up at my feeders.

A trip to Lake Erie, and these Ringed Gulls were looking for something to eat when the waves retreated.

Down on the beach were several Turkey Vultures swarming around a dead deer.

All the while in the same area this Canada goose family didn't seem too worried.

This big guy landed not far from us, but didn't stay long.

And here he is taking off.

Hope you didn't get too bored. The weather hasn't been all that good lately either. I hope to go back to take more pictures of the Eagles again this week. The eaglets should be big enough to see from the ground now.

World Bird Wednesday

I'm not sure if I posted this picture before, but it's worth another look. I took this shot 2 years ago on the creek behind our house in the summer. That Spring was a good year for the Wood ducks.

Ruby Tuesday

This little female Ruby-throated hummingbird has been a very frequent visitor at my sugar water feeder more these days since it has been so rainy and cold. In this shot she is all wet. A better day today she has dried out, but still it is cold.
Happy Ruby Tuesday and do click on over to http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/ to see lots more RED.

Macro Monday

It's Lilac time, and they are among my very favorites. The fragrance is to die for. The blooms opened up this week, and now with all the rain the past 2 days I'm afraid their flowering time will be short lived.

Out and About

Traveling around this week we got to Lake Erie just in time to see the US Brig Niagara, the flagship of Erie, Pennsylvania out on a 2 hour tour with 50+ school children. You will see another view on my sidebar. This is the lighthouse at the end of the South Pier on Lake Erie. It is no longer in service, but makes for lots of pictures.

These cute Mallards took turns resting and keeping an eye on me.

Good balance!

We took a ride by the Great Blue Heron rookery, and things are looking good with babies in this top nest at least. The day was rainy and foggy, so hard to get good clear shots.

The ground Phlox are in full bloom, but rain in the forecast will ruin them.

One of my favorite Tulips, and this is the only orange color I have.

These are cool too.

I love these little Spotted Sandpipers. They bob up and down as they search for food.

I hope everyone is having a great week-end. We're getting rain again. Kinda getting used to it.
