Ruby Tuesday

Even with the Christmas tree feet away Frosty has finally grown up, and so far hasn't bothered it. Last year we had to keep a spray bottle of water handy just in case. You know what I mean.
A sunny day here and a WOW temperature this morning of 8 deg! I'm definitely NOT ready for this.
Happy Ruby Tuesday. Click on over to http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com to see more RED.

Macro Monday

For Macro Monday this week I wanted to show a darling little Orchid I have blooming right now. These tiny flowers measure less than 1/2" across, and have the fragrance of baby power. There are many buds and flowers on each stem, and they will last probably a month or more.
Happy Macro Monday and click on over to http://lisaschaos.com to see lots more close ups.

Snowy Sunday

The sky yesterday afternoon ( Friday) began innocent enough after sun most of the day.
Last evening around 10PM the clouds negan to thicken even more.
By morning we had 3.5" on the ground, and another 1" by Saturday evening. By the looks of these Rhodie buds we'll have lots of flowers next Spring.
Lots and lots of little apples on my Flowering Crab tree but no birds have eaten any yet. Waiting for the Cedar Waxwings
Not a very good picture because of all the snow in the air, but Mr. Cooper's hawk is here for the winter.
Have a great rest of the weekend and stay warm...

Weekend Reflections

I took this picture last Saturday morning  during a gorgeous sunrise. For about 10 minutes the sky was awesome and changing by the minute.

Skywatch Friday

Last Saturday morning at sunrise the sky looking Northeast. Within a 10 minute time period it was so gorgeous, but this led to later clouding and followed with 3 days of cold rain.
Due East

Swinging around to the Southeast.
Next looking to the South.
Finally off to the West down toward the creek behind our home.
Click on over to http://skyley.blogspot.com to see lots more sky shots.
BTW a snow storm is on the way tomorrow. For those of you who love snow, I'll keep you posted.

Cold, Wet, Raining again! and even a wee bit of snow..

I'm afraid I don't have very much to add today. The past  few days have been just so horrible  and lousy weather for picture taking ...Cold , wet, and raining...
This shot was taken at a small local lake that during the morning hours is home to a great flock of Canada geese.
Even in the rain we can pack a lunch and watch trains! On this day we saw at least 10 in a 2 hour period. The train traffic seems to be picking up.
Not far from the train watching area is this beautiful falls and after all the rain lately there seems to be lots of water. Sometimes this falls is dry..
Ok, that's all folks. Snow predicted for Friday.. Take care all...

World Bird Wednesday

You can tell winter is getting close because this Sharp-shinned hawk showed up 3 days ago spying on my birds. I never see any only during winter, and this one was not very successful at catching his lunch. Twice he chased a bird into the Spruce trees, and twice he failed.
