SKYWATCH FRIDAY

It's SkyWatch Friday again. This shot was last week-end. Since it rained most of the day today, it was not good for picture taking.
At the bottom of the picture you will see little white spots. These are the lights on the ski slopes at the resort by us that is still open.

DAY TRIP

On Wednesday we took a day trip to East Aurora, New York. We needed to pick up Gary's locomotive that we dropped off last week for service. We used our GPS and let " Lizzie" take us there on all the back roads.
On the way we passed an Amish man driving these 2 horses with a small boy riding on the back. Driving through Brockton, New York we see the arches in the center of town. They have Christmas lights on the arches and are very pretty when lighted at night.
In this little corn field is a small flock of about 10 turkeys.

I wasn't able to get very close, and because of the traffic, we didn't stay very long, but I wanted to catch the Tom strutting his stuff, and he was very proud. Unfortunately he just wouldn't turn toward us, so all I got was his back-side.

We decided to watch trains while we ate the picnic lunch I packed, BUT this car carrier train was sitting idle on the siding and was blocking all the rest of the tracks, so we moved to another area. I just liked this BIG old building. I have no idea what was in there, but it had plenty of room.

This old barn was another goodie. Would you believe out back was a pasture with 3 horses. I bet they live in this barn...

We had a good day. Gary got his locomotive back all fixed, and the weather cooperated till we got home, and then it began to rain. Very windy all day too. Have a great Thursday all.

Watery Wednesday

For Watery Wednesday I just had to post this picture of the Canada geese family I took last summer . I know you're all probably tired of seeing so many geese shots, but you have to admit these goslings are so cute all lined up in a row.
Happy Wednesday everyone.

Ruby Tuesday

Here are some eggs from the Silkie chickens. They are Bantam sized chickens and lay small eggs. The brown egg in the middle is a regular sized egg. Also I'm showing a green shelled egg from a Araucana chicken. The rest of the cream colored eggs are from the Silkies.
For Ruby Tuesday here are my Silkies chickens. They lay very small eggs just a little bigger than a golf ball, and are a light cream color. I hope to have baby chicks from the hens this spring. The rooster is really colorful and very good natured.

Macro Monday

For Macro Monday I chose one of my favorite Orchids. I just love the color.

CATCH-UP

I am getting so far behind with my pictures, and I just keep taking more. What ever will I do? LOL
Anyway here are a few from the past 2 weeks. Nothing special, just a mix.
This shadow reminded me of a deer antler. Actually it is the shadow from a hanging limb from another tree. A big old Sycamore tree leaning toward the creek. The high water did some damage to the trees near the creek this winter.
Here are the roots from that tree, more exposed than last year.
There are signs here of Spring after all. This is a Aspen tree in bud.
More early signs. Daffodils...
Grackles are everywhere, but I love the iridescent colors
The "eyes" have it !
Just a pretty spring day in the country.
Still some water in the fields where the Sea Gulls find a good place to catch a nap. PS, this is the same water where I first photographed the Tundra swans a couple weeks ago.
Plenty of male American Robins defending their territories. I haven't seen any females yet.
Mrs. Red Bellied woodpecker is still with us, but no Mr. seen yet. This old snag was the home to a family of House Wrens last summer, but the top of the snag fell off during one of our high wind storms. Guess they'll have to find a new home.
Last week-end we were surprised by a ride in this wagon pulled by a pair of Belgian horses. They came right in our driveway to pick us up.

Enough for today. Hope everyone is having a wonderful and safe week-end. Take care.
The End.

PhotoHunt

The theme for this weeks PhotoHunt is YELLOW
At John Deere Days this week at the shop where our son works, they had a cool display with a working waterfall.
The 2nd picture shows the 3 little children all fishing in a small pool.
Thanks to tnchick for keeping this meme going. Just click on PhotoHunt on my side bar to see lots more YELLOW shots.
